Online poker during the beginning of COVID had more MTT action than I’d ever seen. PartyPoker, PokerStars and GGPoker were running high stakes re-entry tournaments daily and the swings were enormous. This hand is from June 28th 2020 a day that is not particularly notable to me, but apparently it is a day where I played 17 tournaments with buy-ins totalling $131,700, only cashing in one of them for $22,536.51. I haven’t lost $100k playing online poker too many days, but apparently it happened enough times in 2020 that I can’t even remember them all. Today’s hand looks pretty uneventful, but the mistakes I made are as costly as mistakes I’ve made in much bigger pots. When reviewing your play it’s always important to look at “standard” hands, you will play a lot more standard hands than weird ones, if you consistently play standard hands well your poker game will have a rock solid foundation.
